Gwin Smith

Since graduating from Mississippi State University in 1985 with a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Gwin has lived in Memphis and worked in the agricultural real estate business – appraisal, land brokerage and mortgage banking. Starting out as a real estate appraiser in 1985, he cofounded Rutledge Investment Company in 1989 as a regional agricultural mortgage banking firm that originates and services loans throughout the Mid- South. Rutledge Investment Company has originated over $730 million in mortgage transactions in the past 11 years.

Gwin became licensed to sell real estate in 1997 and has sold over five hundred million dollars of farmland over his career.

Real Estate Highlights

  • Gwin is active in all phases of the farm real estate business. He is a licensed real estate agent in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. He has extensive education in real estate and real estate appraisal. He is knowledgeable about farming and farm finance and has farming interests in Crittenden County, Arkansas.
  • Over the past 10 years, Gwin has completed several large farm sales transactions. Some of the larger transactions of note include representing the owner in a $80 million farm and timber transaction, representing the seller in $50 million farm transaction and representing the seller in a $27 million farm transaction.
  • Extensive history representing European and South American investors.
  • Completing over $400 million in farm and recreational sales in the past 11 years
  • Listing and selling over $60 million for various institutional landowners – including pension funds, private equity, REITS, Hedge Funds, and insurance companies.
  • Assisted clients in obtaining government grants to improve both farm and recreational property.
  • Personally bought, sold and developed farmland, recreational land and hunting clubs for over 30 years.
  • Handled 1031 exchanges both personally and for clients.

 

Interests

Gwin and his wife, Crissy, have three grown children and two grandchildren. He enjoys, golf, hunting,
fishing, and the outdoors. Crissy is a residential real estate agent and their time is spent enjoying their
grandchildren and following Mississippi State sports. They are Members of Christ Church Memphis.

Shelby Smith

Shelby grew up in Memphis and graduated from Memphis University School in 2009.  Shelby then graduated from Mississippi State University in 2013 with a finance degree.  He returned to Memphis to accept a job as an analyst for First Tennessee Bank in their commercial lending division.  In 2015, he was hired to be the lending and brokerage associate for Rutledge Investment Company and is currently the Vice President of Rutledge Investment.  Shelby has 7 years’ experience in real estate sales, real estate mortgage lending, and farmland management. Shelby is the principal broker for The Farmland Group, LLC, he focuses on row crop farms as well as recreational/ hunting properties. Shelby is licensed in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

Shelby enjoys hunting, fishing, golf and dog training. He and his wife Chelsi have two kids, William and Caroline.

Ryan Dulaney

Ryan DuLaney was raised in Memphis, TN, and his family owned properties in the Cache River Basin adjacent to the National Wildlife Refuges. His passion for wildlife and the outdoors led him to his career in land real estate. Ryan received his real estate license in Arkansas in August of 2021 and is working towards getting his license in Tennessee and Mississippi.

After graduating college with a Forestry Degree with Wildlife Concentration from Mississippi State University, Ryan married his college sweetheart, Meagan. They have two golden retrievers that join Ryan on his hunting ventures, but also enjoy cuddling up on the couch with Meagan. He spends his free time either hunting in the river bottoms, fly fishing, or golfing. He also enjoys cheering on his alma mater, Mississippi State, at Dudy Noble field. Hail State!

Allen Evans

Allen Evans is a lifelong resident of Lonoke, Arkansas where he was raised on the family farm established by his grandparents in 1930. Allen is a graduate of Lonoke High School, the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and the Barret Graduate School of Banking.

Allen began his 32-year career in banking and finance, while still in college, at McIlroy Bank & Trust and upon graduating accepted a position with Farm Credit Services of Central Arkansas. In 1996, Allen joined the Bank of England as a branch manager / loan officer to help establish the bank’s first bank branch in Lonoke. Over the years with the Bank of England, Allen advanced through the ranks to eventually serve the bank as its President and Chief Executive Officer.

Allen is active in the community having served on the Lonoke School Board, Lonoke Chamber of Commerce, Lonoke Industrial Development Commission, Lonoke Youth Football Association, Lonoke Community Foundation, Lonoke School District Foundation, Lonoke Kiwanis Club, Lonoke County Farm Family of the Year Committee, City of Lonoke Finance & Budget Committee and the Lonoke Cemetery Association.

Allen’s years of experience in finance and the agriculture industry, along with his established network of contacts, provide his clients with a valuable service buying and selling farmland properties and recreational hunting properties.

Allen and his wife Stacy live in Lonoke and are the proud parents of Carsyn and Brady. Allen’s interests revolve around his family, hunting, fishing, sports and Lonoke Baptist Church.

Phillip Howell

Phillip Howell is a sales associate with The Farmland Group concentrating on agricultural and recreational land sales. Phillip spent 38 years with MetLife Agricultural Investments in farmland analysis, lending and investing where he built and maintained a $700 million portfolio. He received his undergraduate degree from Arkansas State University. Among several directorships and volunteer roles for the community of Lonoke, AR he has been a deacon and the treasurer at Lonoke Baptist Church for 27 years. Currently Phillip serves as a Consultant for LandFund Partners and a Director for Malvern National Bank. He and his wife Susan have three children and eight grandchildren.
